The application is open! Thank you for your interest in the Polar Bear Scholarship Fund.

Before you begin. Let's make sure you have all the necessary material and information before starting.

All applications are to be submitted no later than 5 PM on February 5, 2020; no exceptions.
Student applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be a graduating North High student the spring of the application/interview process.
Have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.Will enroll in an accredited non-profit college or university in the fall following high school graduation.
Has applied to at least one college or university prior to submitting PBSF application.
Submit a completed PBSF application, including all applicable uploads, on or before the due date set by PBSF, no exceptions. Uploads include an essay, resume, school transcript that includes cumulative GPA, and a current photo. Letters of recommendation are no longer a part of the application.
Please note:Members of the Fund’s Board of Directors will hold interviews for qualifying applicants on March 1 and 2. If you are invited to participate, you will be notified of your interview date and time through the counseling office.Scholarship amounts will vary and be determined by the Selection Team per the dollars available. Only completed applications will be accepted; no exceptions can be made regarding the due date, time, or required components of the application.You will upload one essay, less than 500 words, double spaced, 12pt. font answering ONE of the following questions:What has shaped you into the person you are?What are your educational plans and why?What are your career plans and why?Award Selection Formula:The Selection Team will rate the applications on a 5-point scale, with 0 as the lowest and 5 as the highest rating in each component. Each component’s score will then comprise the corresponding percentage towards the students’ total score:
Interview – 25%
Rigor Rating* – 20%
Essay – 20%
Resume – 20%
GPA – 15%
*The Rigor Rating will be designated by the college and career guidance counselors at North High. This rating will be on a 0 – 5 scale and will be determined by a blind evaluation of each applicant’s transcript by at least two counselors. The evaluation will include completion of courses designed to prepare students for post-secondary success. Rigor Ratings will be shared with the Selection Team prior to student interviews.
